Not that you used it, but if you did, here's what you could try instead of Kazaa
I'm thoroughly impressed with EMusic so far. The subscription MP3 service ($10/month for unlimited downloads) has a well-designed interface, good online documentation, and a fabulous selection of music, especially indie and old jazz. The downloaded files have no proprietary hooks or copyright protection; EMusic simply trusts that if given excellent service for a low price, its users will do the right thing. Maybe Sony will never accept the honor system, but it looks like hundreds of smaller labels will.
Best features:
- Thirty second previews of any song from any album
- Download whole albums or individual tracks
- Songs are automatically organized by artist and/or album
- Recommendations based on previous downloads
- Many of these bands are hard to find on Kazaa. Here you're guaranteed to get the whole album at high quality
- Albums are always available, like my favorite Castaways and Cutouts which has been sold out in Portland forever
