Collective nouns
At the Counting Crows concert last week (which I've decided not to review; John Mayer's catapult to suckage is too heartbreaking), I began wondering if the band's name was an indirect reference to murder. You know, a murder of crows? It seems a little too obscure, but then Glen Phillips commented once that he was exceedingly proud of his use ofcollective nouns in Something's Always Wrong, and was, in fact, a bit disappointed that more people didn't congratulate him on "a brace of hope, a pride of innocence." So maybe Adam Duritz really is that obscure, and at least it gave me something tantalizingly nerdy to ponder.
Oh, and in a related post, Brad has some collective terms for gay men. My favorite is "a peck of shirtless boys."
