Week in review
Finally caught up with the work I missed while in Ecuador. Also found time last week to do a bunch of fun things around town, including:
- Beat poetry at the Silver Eye Center for Photography. Best part: Mid-sentence in a passage from On the Road, the reader interjects, "This guy is so full of bullshit."
- Phipps's current exhibit, a strange mixture of tulips and tropical plants. I felt a pang of sadness realizing I missed daphne season back home.
- Colter Harper jazz trio at the Underground. Eh. Good company, but mediocre performance.
- Soulcialism, lovely soulcialism. And maybe convinced a few prospective HCIIers that Pittsburgh is better than Palo Alto.
- Reduced Shakespeare Company's Completely Hollywood with Margaret, my free ticket fairy. The physicality of the three actors was amazing, especially in the goofy reenactment of a Matrix fight scene.

Yeah, but in SF you get all those pretentious artsy types. You get them in Pittsburgh, too, but they're rarer, and thus more delightful.
And you have to admit you liked Soulcialism.
Maybe we should do dinner again? This time featuring Over the Rhine. So you can fall in love with them just in time for their Pittsburgh show. With opening band Hem, who I don't know much about, but from the little I've heard... mmmm.
Although I'll put this right out there first : I'm a little nervous about the idea of you coming to the show because my housemate's friend Jim is coming too, and he's some kind of computer person, and you're a/an HCI person, and he and I maybe have this thing--yeah I told you about it, the epistolary relationship, you called it--anyhow, yeah. You get it.
