Psst! This is the blog of Moira Burke, a Ph.D. student in the HCI Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.
Rife with derivative pop culture blather, this site occasionally features thoughts on social psychology, usability, aesthetics, and the general meanderings of someone figuring out the meaning of life. Won't you help me find it?

Re building: It's the olympic tower next to the old cycling stadium (that's now the Biodome). The tower is really sheared like that. And kind of ugly.
Re pie: ["what's that over there?" (quick grab)] works quite well. ;-)
The olympic stadium is where the Expos played until they decamped; I don't know what use it has now. They have an uber-fancy retractible roof that never quite works right, and the tower is visible for miles. I don't find it ugly, per se -- it's just a particularly striking part of the background. Too bad they charge so much to go to the top -- where the view is no worse than the view from the mountain.
I've never heard of firemen rappling off the observatory -- was there a small cat in distress?
