August in New York
I'm in NYC unexpectedly for the next sixteen hours or so. What should I do?Update: Thanks, Wendy! It's great to hear from you, and your suggestions were timed perfectly (I was starving and just about to head out to the subway when you posted). My friend Mukesh and I met up in Chelsea and had a fantastic lunch at Bonobo (some foodie pics over at Flickr coming soon, but here are a few):
Then we wandered to Union Square, through the Village, and down to Chinatown, where the ice cream was, indeed, the best I've ever had. Ginger and green tea. Cortney, you've pretty much described my every weekend last summer -- checking out MoMa and wandering through the park. Some of my other friends went to the Hungarian Pastry Shop last summer, too. Unfortunately, I didn't make it that far north this time to go there or to the Apple Store, Jonathan, and Andy, I'm leaving (hopefully) before the Arturo Sandoval show.
Comments
If you make it up to the Columbia Univ. area, the Hungarian Pastry Shop at Amsterdam and 110th is so good! Great coffee and excellent pastries!
Also, you are likely to find free entertainment in Central Park.
They only had celtic music when I was there. yuck.
