san francisco and alameda:    6.02

San Francisco skyline seen from the Alameda Ferry Buildings near my hotel Chess players in the park on Market. Not the preppies you'd expect. Versace's got the chartreuse goin' on. Really, chartreuse. Blurry pic of Jakob Nielsen I took covertly while he was answering questions. I had a neurotic fear that if I took a picture while he lectured, he'd stop talking and yell at me in front of three hundred usability professionals. So this is the best you get.
Fountain outside my hotel. Detail of the carvings on the side of the fountain. More fountain carving details. I visited my old Alameda neighborhood, at the corner of Pacific and Bay. Tres chic these days. Here's my old house! A darling family that buys organic produce lives there now. Peering into my old kitchen through the back door and feeling a bit criminal.
Old Mrs. Shaw's barren front yard is in good hands now. Carolyn Queener Platt, being her usual indomitable self. Her daughters, who are now in high school, were three and five when I used to babysit them. Crown Beach in Alameda, with the SF skyline in the background. The beach is still covered in the same innocuous gobby jellyfish. The bus whizzed by my old elementary school, Washington. Generic Bay Bridge shot Bryce taking me on the discount North Beach bus tour
The obligatory but rather uninspiring skyline shot Hazel was waiting for me to get home
